Hear from our notable clients! Read on to find out more how cyber security certification can help you...
Hello Fellow Friends, my name is Dr Meisam Eslahi. I am co-chair and industry adviser Centre of Forensics & Cyber Security (FSec) at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation
I want to thank EC-Council and fellow members for the opportunity given to me to share my thoughts about Cyber Security Professional Certificates.
As computer crimes continue to escalate in scale and complexity, organizations are hiring record numbers of trained and certified IT security specialists to combat hackers, malicious attacks and security threats.
Cybercrime professionals in short supply
According to ISACA’s Global Cyber security Status Report 2015, it was recorded that 87 per cent of organisation worldwide and IT professionals believe there is a shortage of cyber security professionals, and furthermore, only 34 per cent of these professionals believe they are prepared for a cyberattack. This shows the need for skilled workers is greatly out stripping demand. Typically it can take as long as six months to find the right candidate for a cyber security role in any companies. A major reason for the shortage of people pursuing a career in cyber security is a simple lack of awareness, partly caused by the absence of suitable or fitting education in universities, making it tough for young people to see cyber security as an accessible career.
Cyber security education in universities
Currently, traditional computer science courses do not have enough practical work, or discussion of career options and their requirements to fit into industry that is more challenging and complex thus it creating a gap between education and the workforce. Best way to fix this is to make university programs more hands-on and practical and incorporate actual IT work through collaboration between the Universities and the Professional Bodies who could be enticed to offer students real-world case studies in return for the chance to meet new and emerging talent through the professional certification with specialization.
The future is here
As the number of attacks continues to rise, what skills will the next generation of professionals need to protect us from hackers, cyber predators, rogue self-driving cars and financial ruin?
Research says that the global cost of cybercrime is predicted to reach £4.9 trillion annually by 2021 and new cybersecurity trends are emerging. To fight future threats, society must develop the next generation of cyber skills. But how do businesses identify weaknesses in their cybersecurity before they’re hacked? They hire ethical hackers. After all, to beat a hacker you need to think like one. That’s why businesses are training their employees in ethical hacking techniques. Having researchers who can get into the minds of cybercriminals and look for security vulnerabilities is a crucial part of protecting against a breach.
"To beat a hacker, you need to think like one!" is the motto of EC-Council's flagship certification - Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) - and the epitome of its stance on IT security training and certification. EC-Council certification training teaches you how to "be" a cyber criminal, because understanding the motivations, tricks and techniques of attackers is the first step in making you the ultimate weapon against attack. EC-Council certifications measure your skills in the latest information security tools, technologies, prevention methods and countermeasures. EC-Council maps out its entire Career Path designations in a structured manner according to specialization and that’s where I was enticed with the whole pathway. I was attracted with its excellent reputation as a leading and challenging certification specialized in Cyber Security.
EC-Council Certification was an incredibly valuable endeavor which made me develop Cyber Security skill and professional insights. I was exposed and benefited from a wide spectrum of Cyber Security including ethical hacking, forensic investigation, security analyst and disaster recovery which made me redefined and better pursued career objective.
Cyber Security Certification for you
Companies are filling the talent gaps through technology and outsourcing certain security functions, such as risk assessment and mitigation, network monitoring and access management, and repair of compromised systems. Rather than worry that cybersecurity experts will be replaced by robots before they even complete training, and cybersecurity workforce adapt its skills. Automation will never fully replace human judgment, it does create efficiencies which allow cybersecurity professionals to focus their time and talent on the more advanced threats that require human intervention and specialized professional certification is the way forward.
